The 14st-Fulton line was a combination of the 14st segment of the Canarsie line and the Fulton st el (BMT #13 train). This service began on 9/23/1936 and lasted almost twenty years until 4/30/1956. It was unofficially known as the BMT #17 train since there were never any signs for it anywhere or on any maps. It went from 14st/8th Ave on the Canarsie line to Lefferts Blvd (today's line).

The BMT #17 was possible because the 14st segment of the line opened in 1924 from Montrose to Bushwick Aves. It extended east beneath Wycoff Ave and then south to a new elevated Broadway Junction station (Eastern Parkway) in 1928. This new station was built above an existing elevated station at Broadway Junction. It was extended further south to the 'rebuilt in 1916' six track Atlantic Ave station where there was a connection to the Fulton street el towards Lefferts Blvd. This Atlantic Ave station served the Canarsie, Fulton el, and Broadway els. (The eastern-most platform of this station is a remnant of the Fulton street el NOW served by the train since 2003.) In 1923, the BRT was reorganized as the Brooklyn Manhattan transit (BMT).

On 4/30/1956, tracks were severed at Atlantic Ave on the Canarsie line and the Fulton st el was mostly demolished. Thus, this service was phased out. Evidence of this connection still exists today as you see all these abandoned trackways leading to no-where in this location. Many of these complex structures were torn down, along with the old Atlantic Ave station from the Canarsie line from 2001 - 2003. After track reconfigurations, remnants of the Fulton st el (BMT #13 train) is now used as the new Atlantic Ave station because the structure is much simplier in design than the previous station.
