The train was one of the original IND lines to begin on 9/10/1932. It went from Hudson terminal (WTC) to 168th street, Washington Heights. The was the longest running double letter line spanning 53 years, 1932 - 1985. This line never left Manhattan and was kind of like an abbreviated train. On 5/5/1985, double letters were being changed to single letters as they are today. In the case of the , it was renamed and lasted until 12/11/1988. You might remember the train from the movie "Deathwish" starring Charles Bronson.
