The Queens Blvd subway had a very brief EE service during the 1930s from Church Ave to 169th street. There was no Sixth Ave subway at the time so it had to use the Eighth Ave subway to get to Queens. Service began on 4/24/1937 until 7/1/1937.

A service between Times Square and Brighton Beach was begun on 8/1/1920 known as the BMT #1 train. It was renamed the train in 1927. On December 1, 1955, a small connection was made between the 60th street tunnel and Queens Blvd line. This allowed for an extended BMT train bridging the Brighton line with the Queens Blvd subway. The concept of this connection was to allow (BMT) trains to merge with the (IND) tracks & vice versa. The lasted until 1964.

In 1967, another train service was created combining the Broadway subway with the Queens Blvd subway. It went from Whitehall to 71st/ Continental. Although it was a great idea for many of today's lines, the deficit of the 1970s phased out the line in 1976. It was redundant with the train in Manhattan so it really wasn't needed from the start. It was consolidated with an extended beyond 57th street to the Queens Blvd subway 1976 - 12/11/1988.

In 12/11/1988, the switched northern routes with the in Queens, and has stayed this way since. This was done to make it easier for the train to go to the subway shop in Queens rather than travel all the way to the Coney Island train yard. The already had easy access to Coney Island. It became more logical for the train to be serviced by the Queens shops.

(EE renamed N, switched eastern route with R), Manhattan 1970s
