The train was an express that began November 27, 1967. It started from Ocean Parkway on the Brighton line, continued to West 8th Street, then to Stillwell Ave. After that, it ran along the express tracks of the Sea Beach line until it reached 59th street, Brooklyn. After 59th, it traveled along the Fourth Ave subway nonstop, crossed the Manhattan Bridge, and went express to 57th street, Manhattan. The Transit Authority wanted to add more stops at 86th street, Ave U, and Kings Highway along the Sea Beach line to attract more customers but no luck. Due to low rider-ship, the was phased out 4/12/1968.

Prior to the , there was once a Sunny Summer Sunday Special very similar to this service from 1924 - 1952. Rider-ship was low on that service too. After 1968, the middle tracks of the Sea Beach line have been used to test new equipment and store laid up trains. Over the years, the middle tracks fell into neglect from Kings Highway to 8th Ave but the tracks from 86th street to Kings Highway have been kept up. Future plans are to pull up the Coney Island bound middle track completely, and keep one single express track from 86th street to 8th Ave.
